The University of Cyprus offers elective courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students, related to the Computer Graphics field. Students are also welcome to choose one of the lab's dissertation topics for their BSc or MSc thesis. The Graphics & Extended Reality Lab is well equipped to offer learning opportunities for all students. Courses
Introduction to the basic principles of digital image synthesis. Explain how a 3-dimensional virtual world is defined starting from the geometry, the materials, the lights and cameras and how the 2-dimensional resulting image is produced by going through the graphics pipeline and ray-tracing. Provision of both the theoretical foundations as well as practical skills through the use of industry standards, such as OpenGL and the Unity 3D engine.
The course aims to teach the basic principles of Computer Graphics and Machine Vision, and touch upon the more recent field of Computational Photography. CG and MV are increasingly employed in a variety of applications recently due to the rapid recent developments in hardware technology and related algorithms. Although traditionally CG and MV have been considered as entirely disjoined, they do rely on many common principles. This course aims to provide a unifying approach for teaching the two areas.
The course offers an introduction to the computer game theory and technology, and provides the necessary knowledge for the design and implementation of such an electronic game.
This course offers an introduction to machine learning algorithms, the use of deep learning and its applications in computer vision and graphics. The course also operates as a graduate-level seminar with weekly readings (1 hour per week), summarizations, and discussions of recent papers.
